How to search the collections
To search all collections, type a keyword into the search bar. The drop-down boxes and date fields allow you to further customize your search. Search results can be narrowed by material type, subject, or name by clicking on any of the "Additional filters" appearing to the right of your search results list. Click on any of the tabs at the top of this page to browse holdings by collection, subjects, or names.Books and other published materials can be found in the library catalog.

What is a finding aid?
Finding aids are descriptions of unique collections that provide information about the creation, historical context, and contents of materials.A guide may take the form of a brief summary or a detailed description and inventory. How the materials were created and in what context, the dates and topics they cover, the amount and the way they are organized are all included in a collection guide.
About the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center:
The Special Collections Department of the Davenport Public Library was established in 1982. In November of 1999, the newly renovated department opened to better serve its community and was renamed the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center. The Center acquires, arranges, describes, preserves, and makes available local history and genealogical materials concentrating on those pertaining to Davenport, Scott County, and Eastern Iowa.Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center
