Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Tuesday Club papers date from 1951 to (current) and measure 3.75 linear feet. The papers are arranged in 3 series: Papers presented by members, Programs/Yearbooks, and Miscellaneous Items.

The Papers Presented by Members series (1951- current) includes about 100 research papers that Tuesday Club members have prepared for presentation at their meetings. Most are typed and have bibliographies. These papers are arranged alphabetically by name of author through mid-2006. As papers are brought to the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center they are being added to this record series chronologically.

The Programs/Yearbooks series (1892-2007 with some missing) includes the Club’s planned theme and programs for the year, a list of officers, executive committee members, and active, honorary and associate members along with their addresses.

The Miscellaneous Items series consists of receipts for club dues, one newspaper clipping, and ephemera from the celebrations of their 25th, 60th and 100th anniversaries. There is a list of club papers presented from 1892-1992, a list of Club presidents from 1892-1992, and copies of the Tuesday Club Constitutions dated 1908, 1938, 1946 and 2000.

*The bibliography for a 1996 paper titled “Tuesday Club and Feminism” [Box 1 Folder 12] states the minutes of the Tuesday Club 1892-1952 are located at the Putnam Museum Archives, Davenport, IA.

**October 2010 – Items transferred from the Putnam Museum to Davenport Public Library include Minute Books from 1892-1987, program booklets, ephemeral items, photographs, scrapbook. See Acc. #2010-19; Rg. 38 Sec. 4.
