Otto Albrecht was the first cigar store owner west of the Mississippi River. He was also on the school board that decided to build Davenport High School.
Theodore Hartz was treasurer of the cigar company. He and Emma took over the business after Otto passed.
Charles Arnseson Sr. owned L. E. Chute Printing Company on Brady Street. He and wife Amy had three children: Elaine, Charles Jr. and Delores. They were members of the Outing Club.
Elaine's nickname "Paddy" comes from her ice skating adventures at Vander Veer Park. She would always fall down on her bottom. Her father suggested she put padding to protect her so she did. Her husband Ralph Van Fossen was the assistant fire chief for the Davenport Fire Department and then Alcoa. She helped out on the John Schmidthauser campaign.
Charles Arneson Jr. went into the Navy.
"Dee" grew up in Davenport and moved to Steepmeadow Apartments at the end of her life. She volunteered as a guide at the Rock Island Arsenal museum, as ambassador to greet people on steamboats and airport for the Chamber of Commerce. Started Salvation Army Christmas Clearance program. Married Lang on February 8, 1952.
