Late 19th Century and Early 20th Century Photograph Collection
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of 49 photographs taken in studios in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Germany. The bulk of the collection are cabinet cards. There is one snapshot and 32 digital images of Deutscher Krieger Verein in JPG format. Subjects are mainly portraiture with a few residences.
A brief listing of the collection by studio:
Davenport Studios include Dahms, Free, Hostetler, Berg, Haugh, Mangold, Wales, Lenz.
Des Moines Studios include Hostetler and Colville.
Rock Island Studios include Hakelier, Siegmund, Smith.
Rockford Studios include McPherson and Eriksen.
Chicago Studios include Wilke.
St. Louis Studios include Dilks.
Germany Studios are printed in German and there are two images with no studio identification.

Biographical / Historical
The photography studios were the basis used to estimate the dates of these images. Their addresses were used as well as analysis of clothing style, hair style, and so forth. These images are unidentified.
