Westrom Photograph Collection
Scope and Contents
Seven jpg scans of cartes de visites issued by Davenport, Iowa photography studios of Clara Barton and Billy the Kid, and of Abraham Lincoln from a Wisconsin business. The originals remain in the donor's possession. Recto and Verso were scanned. Donor purchased from antique dealerships and has not authenticated subjects of images.
Weld's Photograph Gallery on the corner of 2nd and Main appears to have been in business in 1864. This corresponds to the Barton image. [Barton was born 1821 and died in 1912.]
Miller & Co. Photographers at the corner of 3rd and Brady were in business from 1877-1881. This corresponds to the Billy the Kid image. [William H. Bonney aka Billy the Kid was born 1859 and died 1881.]
The Lincoln image was issued by W.F. Webster of Horicon, Wisconsin.
