Included in this collection of personal documents are the birth, marriage, grammar school diploma and naturalization certificate and correspondence regarding said certificate of Fannie Goldstein Klein. Additionally, an alien registration receipt card for Jacob Klein with a fingerprint is included which is undated.

Biographical / Historical

Fannie Goldstein was born in England to Polish parents Jacob and Rachel (Katz) Goldstein. The family immigrated to the United States in 1887.

Joseph/Jacob Klein was born in Minsk, Russia in 1882 to parents Abraham and Leah (Garber) Klein. Jacob emigrated in 1902. He was a peddlar merchant dealing in second hand iron for many years in Davenport.

The couple married in Davenport in 1907 and had two daughters. Jacob died in November 1950 and Fannie in June 1972.
