Sheridan No. 1 school group photograph

 Collection
Identifier: 2022-10

Scope and Contents

This is a fragile photographic print that appears to have been removed from an album at some point. An older female, likely the teacher, stands behind three rows of children. A row of six boys is standing, a row of eight girls is seated on a bench, a row of five boys is seated on the ground. They appear to be posing outside a frame building between two windows with dark shutters. Two older girls in the center of the seated row hold a small blackboard the has "Sheridan No. I" written on it. Donor identifies the girl on the left holding the sign as her paternal grandmother, Martha LENSCH MOHR (1898-1984). Research supports the fact Martha LENSCH graduated from Sheridan No. 1 in 1912, having attended there with her siblings and cousins.
