This is a printed paper pertaining to an immigrant from Schleswig-Holstein to Scott County, Iowa named Johann Friedrich Christian Schmidt. The article is entirely in German and is titled "Nach Iowa! Biographical / Historical

Johann Frederick Christian Schmidt was born on 25 May 1800 in Schleswig-Holstein, Prussia, the son of Jacob Schmidt and Maria Christina Post. He was married to Margaretha Dorathea Kistenmacher on 10 Oct. 1823 in Gettorf, Prussia.

The couple left Hamburg, Germany for New Orleans, Louisiana along with five of their children, arriving in June 1847. They farmed in Scott County, Iowa.
