Biographical / Historical
There was only one public Davenport high school for the first 100 years until the need for a second high school arose with the "baby boomers". In the fertile fields on the west edge of Davenport, a new high school arose: “Davenport West High School.” While not yet totally completed, the doors were opened to students on the Tuesday after Labor Day 1960. The chosen nickname and mascot was The Falcons.
