Scope and Contents
I: Baseball
This series contains baseball caps, photographs, tournament programs, rules and regulations for Little League and Pony League teams in Davenport, Iowa that were coached by William Young.
II: Progressive Baptist Church
This series contains CDs with sermons given at Progressive Baptist Church from 2006-2017. The bulk of sermons were given by Pastor Stanley Moore, with the most from 2007 and 2011. A book by Moore titled "Can God Trust You with Trouble?" is also part of the series. Also included are Progressive Baptist Church directories dating from 1981-2010 with gaps. The 2010 church directory is included where Young was deacon.
III: Local Art
This series consists of a poster print by Paul Norton of the Alcoa Plant, Davenport Museum of Art Faith Ringgold exhibition poster, an Alcoa poster.

Biographical / Historical
William Young, Jr. (October 7, 1936-March 25, 2022) was born in Meridian, Mississippi to William Young, Sr. and Roberta (McCoy) Young. He received his education at St. Joseph Catholic School, the meridian Public Schools and Mississippi Industrial College. He married Emma Jean Johnson and together they had five children.
William was athletic and had an enduring talent and passion for baseball. He played baseball and softball locally and coached little leage and pony league baseball at Emeis park in Davenport where he also managed several Emeis All-Stars teams.
Young became a member of Progressive Baptist Church shortly after moving to Davenport in 1963. He became a Deacon in 2008 with the encouragement of Pastor Stanley Moore.
Young was employed at ALCOA for 38 years, retiring in 2001.
