Biographical / Historical

The Fredolin Marti family immigrated to the United States from Switzerland, arriving in Iowa before the birth of their eldest child in 1853. The family settled in Winfield Township of Scott County, Iowa. The tax receipts in this collection include lands owned in Township 80, Range 3, Sections 6, 8, 19, 20. Fredolin died in 1886, but his sons Edward, Conrad and Fred Jr. continued to farm the estate.
