Bloeser Image Collection

 Collection
Identifier: 2023-48

Scope and Contents

This is a group of digital images pertaining to the donor's families. The Carlsons and Guldners were in the tailoring business locally. Later the Guldners ran establishments in Davenport called the Tip Top Cafe and Guldner's Cafe.

Interiors of cafes and tailor shops as well as one exterior of the tailor shop at 124-126 East Third Street appear to date 1890-1910. There is one image of a group of young girls wearing white dresses and holding flags that dates 1906-1908 based on the photographer, Milton H. MacArthur, address. One iamge shows a group of employees, mainly women, posed outside W.T. Grant Co. with posters for Cotton Week hanging in the window dated 1940 taken by Fromader Studio in Davenport.

There is some identification written on the back of the originals. Research was conducted on both families using city directories and newspaper articles to assist with dating and addresses of businesses. This is filed with the accession paperwork.
