Lindemann-Hesse Genealogy Collection
Scope and Contents
This collection is related to the direct line of Joseph John Lindemann and his descendants as well as the Hesse family. Joseph John Lindemann's two sisters both married Hesse brothers, Friedrich and Frank.
Highlights of the collection are large images of Joseph John Lindemann (1838-1898) and his wife, Theodora (Epping) Lindemann (1846-1910) that measure 16 x 20". The couple were married in 1864, so perhaps these were done close to that time.
Additionally, two 8 x 10" photographs of Dixon Independent School #1 attendees and teachers taken ca 1890s-1900s are included. On the back of each image the name BOEHLIG is written. Henry John Lindemann, son of Joseph John, married Katherine/Kate BOEHLIG in 1907. Kate was the daughter of Christian and Wilhelmine Boehlig. She had three younger siblings. In 1900 the Boehlig family was living in Allen's Grove Township. It is possible the Boehlig children are pictured in these images.
Photocopied family group sheets and a photocopy of the adult children of Joseph and Theodora taken circa 1910 are also part of the collection.
Publication included are titled "Hesse Family History 1839-1978" compiled by Marion Hesse, a photocopy of "Auswanderungen und Auswanderer: aus dem ehemaligen Kreise Lingen nach Nordamerika" by Walter Tenfelde, and a copy of the index for "Emigration and Emigrants from the Former County Lingen to North America" (also known as "The Tenfelde Book"). The index was created by Nancy Moss. Two pages of errata for the "Hesse Family History" are housed with the photographs.
