Biographical / Historical

The Medical Examiner is a physician appointed by the Scott County Board of Supervisors who works with law enforcement and the health care community to investigate unexpected, suspicious, or accidental deaths. The Medical Examiner authorizes autopsies, when necessary.

Dr. John Dalzell Cantwell served as Scott County coroner from 1916 to 1932.
