Biographical / Historical

John Gilman Ballord (1870-1965) was the son of Esek S. Ballord, early Davenport settler. John G. Ballord grew up on the family farm, attended Davenport schools, then learned the lumber business in Minnesota, later going into investments with his son. He wrote memoirs for the 1961 Daily Times Jubilee edition. Ballord died in Minnesota and is buried at Oakdale Cemetery with his wife, Marie Cooper ADAMS BALLORD who preceded him in death.
