Free Studio of Photography photographs
Scope and Contents
Photographic prints, some appear original with embossed studio name and some appear to be more recent reprints. All 8”x10” and b/w with the exception of one color image of the interior of Sacred Heart Cathedral during a wedding. All images placed in acid free file folders with acid free paper between prints.

Three different photographs showing the building and parts of streets at the corner of West 2nd and Brady Street, Davenport.
1. Vertical image-“Brown’s Business College” painted on both sides of building on upper level. Other signage includes:

This is the same building as seen on Pg.37 of Svendsen’s Davenport: A Pictorial History.

She designates the date as “during the 1890’s”.
This image of the Capitol Theater in Davenport was taken by Hostetler. It shows the exterior of the entire building and the traffic light out in the street. Automobiles are parked around the building. Signage includes the Capitol, Klein & Co. Jewlers, Rich..? Furs

“The Straw Boss”-Pioneer member of Levee Improvement Commission
Standing in front of LeClaire Park seawall in about 1912. He is wearing a straw hat. This image used on pg.83 of Svendsen’s Davenport: A Pictorial History.
“Bill” Hickey is handwritten at bottom of this image and on the back. Man with hair combed back, wearing wire rim glasses with relatively large lenses. Wearing dark suit with small stripe, white shirt, patterned tie.
Woman with dark hair, narrow dark ribbon “choker” with dangling pendant, is in two photographs with different poses. She is standing in the first, wearing a shiny dress of med-calf length with beading and sequins. Her dark stockings and dark shoes are a bit out of focus. She is holding a feathered item, possibly a handbag. No identification
In the second image the same woman is seated on a chair with her legs crossed. Her dark shoes and dark patterned stockings can be seen. She has a fur cape with large fur collar over the same dress. No identification
