Singleton Gardiner personal papers

 Collection
Identifier: 2004-11

Scope and Contents

Singleton Gardiner was the superintendent of the Davenport branch of the Prudential Insurance Company. Beginning to work for the company in New York, he was transferred to Davenport, Iowa in 1907. Collection includes the program from a banquet honoring his 25 years of service to the company, some correspondence, and information pertaining to his tragic death in an automobile accident in January 1926. Two duplicate 7x10" photographs taken of a large group in front of the Carnegie Library by Hostetler are included as is one 5ax14" image that identified Singleton and his wife, Eva. These groups seem likely to be Prudential Insurance group pictures from the 19teens based on attire. Two copies of paperbound Souvenir Davenport, Iowa published in 190? by Trident Publishing are also among the items in the collection.
