Biographical / Historical
Jennie DUTTON (1858-1915) was the daughter of Justin H. and Elizabeth (LEACH) DUTTON. She moved with her parents and siblings from Ramsey County, MN to Davenport, Iowa by 1870. She entertained at her first concert at the Presbyterian Church at age 11, which actually showcased her older sister, Alice, on the piano.
Dutton's superior soprano singing voice led her all over the United States and Europe. She married Charles Burrows-Greene in New York in 1904. After his sudden death in 1907 she spent the majority of her time in New York, Paris and London.
Her parents moved to Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa, and her brother Oliver made his home there as well. Her sister Alice married Joseph ATWILL (later divorced) and remained in Bettendorf along with their sister, Kate.
Jennie died after surgery for appendicitis in August 1915.
