Large Bible published by A.J. Holman & Co. in 1874 containing old and new testaments. Handwritten entries for surnames Headley, Summers, Day and Horton. Original marriage entry for W.P. HEADLEY of LeClaire and Sarah J. SUMMERS of LeClaire on 31 December 1872. Other entries include their descendants and parents.

Biographical / Historical

Walter P. Headley was born in Greene County, Pennsylvania in 1845 and came to Scott County after finishing his schooling. After teaching and farming he settled into business in a dry goods store in Le Claire. He married Sarah Summers, daughter of Scott County pioneer settlers Laurel and Mary (PARKHURST) SUMMERS. They had daughters Grace (married DAY) and Marie (married HORTON). Headley died in 1920. See obituary Daily Times 2Nov1920 page 17.
