Scope and Contents

This collection contains materials relating to the Davenport Community School System and Davenport related materials. It contains Davenport Public School Directories from 1919-1989; commencement programs from Davenport High School dating 1881-1949 with some years missing; contains eight papers written for the Contemporary Club dating 1913-1940 on the topic of education; the following publications: asouvenir booklet on additions made to the high school campus in 1930, reproductions from the 1920 Blackhawk yearbook, "The Davenport University Extension Sixteenth Year, 1904-1905 'Japan': A Course of Six Lectures," "Printing the Right Hand of Industry"- February, March, April 1951, "W.D. Petersen: Father of the Davenport Levee," and a bound volume called Cram's Standard American Railway System; one photographic print of Frank L. Smart Intermediate School 9th Grade class; and a sepia image mounted on board of large group of children and one female adult posed outside brick building.

The Davenport Schools Museum serves as a resource for learning and preservation of the history of Davenport Community Schools through the acquisition of historically and culturally significant objects and records.
