Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a reproduction. Biographical / Historical
Over the years the names of the organization responsible for the Davenport park system have changed. Beginning in 1890, the Davenport Board of Park Commissioners, often called simply “Park Board”, became the governing body with three park commissioners. In 1978 the Board of Park Commissioners was dissolved and the City Administrator became responsible for all duties and functions of the Director of Parks and Recreation. [Ordinances 78-846 and 78-847] In order to try to reflect a broader scope of action the name of the department was changed in 1997 to Leisure Services and Facilities, but it never really caught on, and the department went back to Parks and Recreation in about 2005. At the time the items were donated in 2003 the department was known as Leisure Services and Facilities, which is why the 2003-09 collection is titled as such.
