Biographical / Historical

Reinhart J. "Ron" Thoensen was born in Davenport, IA to Minnie and Reinhart Thoensen on June 15, 1924 and died May 4, 2007. He married Catherine "Katie" Goetsch, on October 7, 1945, in Davenport. Ron was the Sales Manager for V. J. Neu, Davenport, and Hacker Oldsmobile, Moline. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, for 56 years. He enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942 and served in Italy for 18 months, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was an avid gardener and received many beautification awards for his yard from the city of Davenport. (Excerpts taken from Quad¬City Times, May 6, 2007)
