Biographical / Historical

Henry Lambach (1815-1899) was a surveyor and served multiple years as Davenport's city engineer. He co-created the 1857 map of the City of Davenport, Iowa with James T. Hogane.

Arriving in the United States about 1848 from his native Germany, he took up work as a civil engineer and was employed by various railroad companies, eventually including the Union Pacific Rail Road as they surveyed routes for the Transcontinental Railroad in 1863.

Lambach returned to Davenport and taught drawing in the public schools.
