Scope and Contents
Minnie Schick was a Davenport native. These three books appear to have been from her 8th grade school year and contain verses from songs, compositions, and lessons. Each composition book contains cursive handwriting.

Biographical / Historical
Minnie "Min" Martha Schick was born 22 February 1893 to John and Minnie (Kuhl) Schick Jr. She married Ferdinand "Ferry" J. Fregin in July of 1916. They had no children, and he died in 1933. Minnie had several siblings, one of which was an older sister, Edna, whom she spent a lot of time with.
The Schick family were longtime citizens of Davenport, owning Schick Express and Transfer. A number of family members served their communities in law enforcement. Minnie's husband Ferdinand was associated with A.P. Griggs in the piano business and later operated a Texaco filling station at the southeast corner of Fourth and Gaines.
Minnie died in 1985. Her obituary states she was a life-time member of Chapter 178 Order of Eastern Star, a 50-year member of Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem and a member of Daughter of Mokanna Mohasson Caldron 2.
