Scope and Contents
Postcard image of storefront of C. Schuldt Grocery at 319 with two young men standing in the door. A wreath hangs in the door window, store windows are decorated for Christmas, rabbits hang outside as well.
Davenport City Directories indicated Christian Schuldt ran a grocery at 319 Harrison Street for about ten years, 1908-1919. Based on the AZO stampbox with 3 corners up and 1 down this image can be identified as 1911.
"John Greenleaf Whittier Literary Society of Grammar Room School No. 2 1896-1897" ribbon measures about 3x6", pink with green ink- uncertain of a local connection. Nothing in local newspapers about the Literary Society. He was an American poet and abolitionist, living 1807-1892.
