Biographical / Historical
The Bi-State Literacy Council was incorporated as a non-profit organization in the State of Iowa in 1988. Since its inception, the Council has been a coalition of volunteer representatives from economic institutions, business, labor, human service organizations and libraries who recognize that by partnering they can better fight illiteracy in the Council service area. The Council's mission is to lead the challenge to overcome illiteracy in all its forms through advocacy, education, awareness and empowerment. The Bi-State Literacy Council serves the six counties of Scott, Clinton and Muscatine counties in Iowa, and Rock Island, Henry and Mercer counties in Illinois.
This organization was dissolved in 2023.
